Small, steady changes to the morning ritual.
iOS 0.4.1
2026-09-05Finishing the day you actually had — Motiva stops making the wrong thing easy.
- Marking your task done is now a button. It was always possible, but the only way in was tapping the task a second time, explained in the smallest text on the screen. "I did this" now sits where the day's main action belongs, and ending the day unfinished steps aside to a quiet link.
- Motiva asks before you reflect on an unfinished day. Reaching to close a day mid-task now asks whether you actually did it — because writing tonight's reflection while the task is still open reads backwards, and a note you wrote against that task only counts toward your progress once the task is finished.
- A day you didn't finish no longer counts as finished. Ending the day mid-task recorded it as complete — so your streak counted a day the app itself said you hadn't finished. It now records honestly, and an unfinished day stays unfinished.
- The permission card opens readable. The card asking whether your own words can shape tomorrow's task opened with its first line cut off on larger phones, and had to be dragged before it could be read.
iOS 0.4.0
2026-09-03Motiva stops assuming it has a word for how you feel — and what you write in its place actually changes the day it gives you.
- Write your own word for how you feel. The eight feelings never fitted everyone. Tap *"Nothing here quite right?"*, write it in your own words, and either point it at the closest feeling or say none of them fit. Saying none fit is a real answer, not a blank — your day carries on and your quote still arrives, and Motiva just doesn't put a label on something it has no word for. What you write also shapes the one thing Motiva asks of you that day.
- "What Motiva remembers" — one place, one switch. The privacy control in You now covers everything you write that Motiva can use: your evening reflection, and a mood you write yourself. One plain explanation of what is sent and what never leaves your phone, and turning it off is one tap that takes effect immediately.
- Premium shows you your own words. Wherever Motiva offers Premium, it now shows the actual thing you reached for — the task you asked to replace, today's quote, the shelf you named, the mood you logged this morning. Nothing you write is sent anywhere to produce it, and Motiva never invents an example of what it would have made for you.
iOS 0.3.1
2026-08-31- Your very first moment in Motiva works. For some brand-new accounts, the first thing the app asked for right after signing up could fail — a blank screen or an error on the one screen that should have just worked. Nothing was wrong with your account; two parts of setting it up were racing each other. Fixed, and it can't happen again.
iOS 0.3.0
2026-08-29The month of getting it right in front of real people. Everything here came from someone using Motiva on a real phone and finding something that didn't hold up.
- Signing in stays signed in. Some people were signed in and then quietly signed straight back out, sometimes over and over. That's fixed. You can now sign in with Apple, alongside Google and the emailed link — and if you use the same address, it's the same account with your history intact.
- Notifications stopped nagging you about work you'd already done. The evening nudge used to say your reflection was ready even if you'd finished the day hours earlier. Motiva now reads what actually happened today: it stays quiet once you're done, credits the work before asking for anything, and on a rest day it says so instead of going silent. If a streak is genuinely at risk it says that plainly — and never overstates what a missed day would cost.
- Premium re-rolls are yours for the whole day. "Show another" could report you'd used all three before you'd asked for any — the day's own quotes were being counted against your allowance. Only the times you actually ask for another now count.
- The trial says what Apple actually gives you. The paywall used to state a trial length of its own, which could drift from the real offer. It now reads the length straight from the App Store, so what you're promised is what you get.
- Paying for Motiva feels like Motiva. A completed purchase used to be acknowledged only by the system's own alert. There's now a proper confirmation in our voice — it names the date your trial converts, and restoring an earlier purchase gets a quiet thank-you rather than a celebration for something you didn't just buy.
- Premium can't vanish on you. An expired subscription is now judged by the date it actually runs to, so a message that goes missing between Apple and us can no longer leave you paying without access — or holding access you've stopped paying for.
- Fixes you'd have noticed. The reminder time on the setup screen was invisible in dark mode until you touched it. A permission prompt mentioned development. The app offered itself to iPads it was never built for. And the website said three tasks a day when Motiva has always been about one.
iOS 0.2.0
2026-08-01Everything since the first build. Motiva grew from a single daily task into a place you can arrive honestly, see your consistency add up, keep what lands, and pass it on.
- Say how you're really doing — including the hard days. Moods now include _Overwhelmed_ and _Drained_, and every mood opens into a few more honest ways to describe it. Not sure how you feel? A finder lets you pick the words that fit and works out the rest, and a "How you're arriving" guide explains what each mood means. Your mood trends now show the week at a glance and how you've been arriving all along — the hard days included, never edited out. Motiva keeps you company where you are — it never tells you you should feel different.
- Watch your consistency become something. Showing up now builds visible progress: a bar that fills as you complete tasks, reflect and read, and a set of stages you grow through. The bar measures the stage you're actually in, so every stage starts fresh rather than half-full. A "How progress works" page lays out the whole system in plain language, and each stage says exactly what unlocks the next one. Missing a day is softened, not punished — a repair window and a banked freeze mean one off day doesn't erase your momentum, and the repair row now tells you why it's unavailable and when it comes back.
- Reaching a new stage earns you a category slot — and says so. Crossing a stage opens with what you've just unlocked before asking you to choose, and the slot waits on your Tasks tab until you're ready. It's offered once, never nagged, and it stays claimable from your categories screen.
- Keep a mark on the days that mattered. Add a photo or a few words to any task, during it or after — your own record, never checked, never scored. Tasks that ask you to write something can now be answered right in the app instead of somewhere else. Marks are yours to edit or remove, and they're deleted with your account.
- Save what lands, in your own shelves. Collections lets you keep quotes and tips in shelves you name — one for the mornings, one for the hard days. Save straight from any quote or tip; each one lives on a single shelf, so re-saving simply moves it. Free members keep one quote shelf and one tip shelf; Premium lifts the cap.
- Share a quote as an image. Turn any quote or tip into a clean, Motiva-styled card — with or without the short meaning — and send it anywhere.
- A richer Discover. Browse quotes and tips by category, open any of them into its own reading page, and get a tip of the day picked for you.
- A new quote every day — never a repeat. Motiva won't show you the same quote twice in a season, and it's ready the moment you launch, even before the network catches up. Tap Unpack on any quote for a short, plain-language take on why it matters today.
- The right quote at the right time. Your day now turns over on _your_ midnight, not a server's — so if you're up late, the day doesn't roll early on you, and the morning's quote is genuinely the morning's.
- Marking your task done is clearer, instant, and undoable. A tap moves your task forward instead of quietly cycling back, a ring counts down for a few seconds so you can undo an accidental tap, and if it can't save it quietly reverts and tells you why.
- A finished day feels finished. After you close the day and write your reflection, the screen rests on View reflection instead of looping back — and you can look back at any past day in full, task details and all.
- One streak calendar that reads the same everywhere. The last-7 strip and the full grid now speak one language — completed, rest day, opened-but-unfinished, missed — with today always highlighted. Days before you ever started no longer look like misses.
- Not feeling it? Try it once, free. Your first mood of the day is always free. Changing it later, pulling a fresh quote, or asking for a different task are Premium — but each one comes with a single free try, offered in the same plain words everywhere, so you can see what it does before deciding.
- Closing the day is quicker to write. The reflection opens as a card over your day rather than taking over the screen, and the character count is honest from the first word.
- Your account, your call. Delete your account from inside the app with a typed confirmation and a short grace period. Signing out asks first. Privacy Policy and Terms are live, linked from the welcome and Premium screens.
- Streaks count honestly. A short streak broken by a missed day now starts over rather than quietly keeping a day of credit. Longer streaks keep their softer landing, so a single miss still doesn't undo weeks of work.
- Clearer throughout. Copy that assumed an older three-tasks-a-day model now reads correctly, long titles are no longer cut off, one support address is used everywhere, and there's a fresh app icon. The late-night screen names your reminder time instead of implying the app is shut until then, your account screen scrolls on smaller phones, and the day no longer flickers between two versions of itself as it opens.
